San Mateo High School is proud to announce the availability of Naviance Family Connection, a comprehensive online college planning and application management system for the use by the Guidance Counselors and our students and families.  Made available in conjunction with the launch of the Barbara Snider College Pathways program at SMHS, students and their families will now have a powerful service to facilitate all their college planning, selection, and application processes and a convenient online connection to their guidance counselors, career center staff, and teachers at San Mateo High School.  Naviance Family Connection enables:

College Search - Students can search for colleges based on several criteria such as location, size of student body, majors offered, cost, etc.

College Lookup -  Students can read about admissions requirements, majors and activities offered, and compare and analyze SMHS students' historical acceptance records with a click of a button. It is easy to research colleges, with detailed college contact information, including a direct link to the college homepage.

Transcript and Letter of Recommendations- Students can keep track of Letters of Recommendation and request SMHS Transcripts online.

My Colleges - This feature allows students to keep track of the colleges they are considering and create an "active application" list as they decide where to apply.

Scholarship Applications - Families and students can search, read about and apply for scholarships online.

How to Access Naviance

All SMHS freshmen (starting in the spring semester), sophomores, juniors and seniors will be able to use their unique SMHS Student ID’s to register and access the Naviance system.  All eligible students can sign on to Naviance Family Connection using the following steps:

1.  Go to the Naviance Family Connection website at http://connection.naviance.com/smhsca

2.  Click on Naviance Login

3.  Enter your SMHS Student ID in the space provided under the "New User" section of the page and click "Register."

4.  Enter an e-mail address (required for all users) and create a password. Important: students should select passwords they are comfortable sharing with their parents as the only way for parents to access the system is through the students' accounts.

5.  Complete the registration procedures as instructed.

More information will continue to be posted as we roll out this new service.  If you have questions or concerns, please contact your assigned Counselor or Jeff Scheller at SMHS.
